The river Twyver has been canalised and lined with concrete for a section running through Abbeydale in Gloucester. The flood events in 2007 caused the collapse of some sections of wall. These sections had been washed away causing further blockages and flooding downstream. JPR Environmental was commissioned to restore 2 sections of bank totalling about 15m with an environmentally sensitive solution.

JPR Environmental removed any loose material from the two collapsed sections and reprofiled the sides to accept pre-planted coir rolls. The rolls were installed and staked in and keyed into the concrete at either end. The eroded areas of bank were backfilled with topsoil and turf laid to blend in with the surrounding public space. The project was undertaken with no disruption to members of the public using the adjacent public footpath.
