Project outline
The 4,500 home development at Popley Fields is situated next to one of the most important Great Crested Newt breeding sites in the South. As part of the extensive mitigation plan for the site,
isolation and trapping off each stage of development was required. To date, JPR Environmental
have installed 6km of newt fence over the 4 development phases. For the 4 years the project has
been active we have also undertaken repairs and maintenance on fencing and installed and
removed traps as required.
As the project heads towards completion JPR Environmental is preparing to install permanent
exclusion fencing at the front of the site.
A note of interest, over 4,000 newts were trapped and translocated from the first phase of
development and 3,500 from phase 3. |
