Laying the Bentonite liner in a 200 sqm pond in Chepstow
Project outline
The client had purchased a small field to develop as a wildlife friendly area to the side of their property. An element was to be a pond and the soil had been excavated but not lined and was not therefore holding water.
Services Provided
JPR Environmental re-landscaped the "hole" to create a pond with varying depths and sides with differing gradients. We cleared the entire pond of stones over 1cm in diameter to allow the use of Bentonite as a liner. Bentonite is a special clay that expands on contact with water and forms a very effective lining. It is used in 10sqm strips which are sandwiched between geotextile to prevent holing. The pond was lined then soil was laid over the liner to a depth of about 300mm for re-vegetation. The pond as it fills with rainwater
