Wetland creation at National Perry Collection Hartpury

The client has created a 1 hectare wetland area on his land and had applied for funding to extend this to a further 4 hectares as part of a development of the site into the National Collection of Perry Pears.
The design called for the new wetland to join the existing area and draw water from a number of springs across the site. The new wetland was designed to flood to varying depths as the site sloped down to the South West edge. It included islands, channels, scrapes and ponds and a marsh at the lowest point.

JPR acted as construction managers for the project. We identified and hired the contractors, supervised all works and undertook tasks such as pipe installation between areas and construction of access points.
We advised on wetland plants to be incorporated and supplied and planted the agreed species.
The project is ongoing and we continue to carry out additional planting and fine tune water levels.
The project called for the re-landscaping of the existing wetland area to make it more natural - JPR also undertook this work.
