Part of the Gloucestershire WildlifeTrust's Severn Vale Living Landscape initiative includes the creation or restoration of wetland areas across the Severn Vale. The Trust is working with land owners and farmers to improve the quality of the lowland wet grassland of the Vale to encourage species dependent on this habitat such as waders and ducks as well as otters and water voles. This project aimed to create a scrape that would flood for part of the year and dry during the summer to create such a habitat.

JPR Environmental undertook the creation of the 1800 square metre scrape identifying and managing groundworking contractors and enclosing the area to protect from potential cattle disturbance. The site is highly visible from the Gloucester and Sarpness Canal and has already become a feature for boaters and walkers using the waterway.
